With the January transfer window just days away, the rumor mill is in overdrive. One of the most captivating whispers making the rounds is a potential move for Victor Osimhen to Manchester United. The Nigerian striker, currently on loan at Galatasaray, seems ripe for the picking. And if reports are to be believed, the Red Devils are in pole position to secure his coveted signature.
After a whirlwind summer filled with speculation linking him to Saudi Arabia or Chelsea, Victor Osimhen has silenced the noise with his scintillating form. The Nigerian striker is back to doing what he does best—scoring goals for fun. With 12 goals and 5 assists in just 15 Super Lig and Europa League appearances for Galatasaray, Osimhen has been nothing short of sensational. His performances have propelled Galatasaray to the top of the Turkish Super Lig and into the Europa League’s top eight.
Naturally, this red-hot form hasn’t gone unnoticed, with European giants taking note—chief among them, Manchester United. Reports suggest the Red Devils have already reached out to Osimhen’s representatives to explore a potential move to Old Trafford this January. However, snapping up the in-demand striker won’t come cheap. Before heading off to Galatasaray on loan in August, Victor Osimhen put pen to paper on a new deal that includes a hefty release clause of 90 million euros. But here’s the kicker: after this season, that clause drops to 80 million. And if you thought that was all, reports from Italy are now claiming Napoli could be willing to let Osimhen go in January for a bargain 75 million euros.
Sky Sports Switzerland is reporting that a potential Marcus Rashford sale could pave the way for Victor Osimhen to make his move to Old Trafford. The buzz is that Manchester United are already in talks with Osimhen’s camp, and reaching an agreement on personal terms is expected to be smooth sailing. But while Manchester United is clearly keen on bringing Osimhen to Old Trafford, any move would likely require some significant departures to balance the books in January. On top of that, Ruben Amorim is reportedly eyeing reinforcements in midfield and at left-back, as he looks to bolster his squad for the second half of the season. Therefore, signing Osimhen in January would be a luxury signing for Manchester United, but the reality is they're not exactly in a position to splash the cash on that kind of move right now. With other areas of the squad desperately needing attention, it’s starting to feel like landing Osimhen is more of a pipe dream than a realistic option for the Red Devils.
