3 Best Teams to Manage in EAFC 25’s Career Mode

Widely recognized as one of the most beloved games in the world, EAFC 25 is the latest iteration of EA Sports’ hugely popular football simulation series. While the official launch date is set for 27th September, some lucky players have already had a sneak peek, thanks to EA's early access.

With just a few days left until millions of fans can get their hands on EAFC 25, the excitement is hitting fever pitch. This year, EA has made some major updates to Manager Career Mode—going beyond mere cosmetic tweaks for the first time in over a decade. From a renewed emphasis on youth development and the youth academy to the introduction of Fabrizio Romano and the new FC IQ feature, there's a lot to get excited about in this year’s Manager Career Mode.

As a die-hard fan of Manager Career Mode myself, these changes have me absolutely buzzing. So, to celebrate, I’ve put together a list of clubs that could make for an intriguing challenge in EAFC 25. Without further ado, here are my top three picks for the best teams to manage in this year’s game.

1) Blackburn Rovers – EFL Championship (England)

If you want a challenging first career mode save, then playing with Blackburn Rovers is the way to go. The former Premier League champions have experienced a dramatic decline from their glory days in the 1990s. Back in the day, legends like Alan Shearer and Chris Sutton lit up the pitch in the iconic blue and white stripes, leading the club to the pinnacle of English football. Now, however, Rovers find themselves competing in the second tier, far removed from their legendary status as top-flight champions. What’s even more surprising is that Blackburn narrowly avoided relegation to EFL League One, finishing 19th, just 3 points ahead of 22nd placed Brimingham City.

However, you will have the opportunity to change the fortunes of Balckburn Rovers. With promising young talented players like Todd Cantwell, Tyrhys Dolan, Owen Beck, and Hayden Carter, the Rovers have a squad capable of surviving Championship’slong, hard grind. But the challenge would be to get the promoted back to the Premier League. The Rovers were relegated from the Prem back in the 2011-12 season, and since then they have never returned. Moreover, you will also get the chance to play at Ewood Park, newly scanned by EA Sports this year. With a modest budget of around £8 million, securing your top transfer targets will be a challenge—but that's part of the fun.

2) Wrexham AFC – EFL League One (England)

The beauty of Manager Career Mode is that there are endless possibilities. From utter continental domination with your favorite club to a Road to Glory saves, anything is possible. Therefore, for players who are interested in Road to Glory (RTG) saves, playing with Wrexham AFC could be fun. The small Welsh club can into mainstream media’s attention after Hollywood superstars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the club in 2020. Since then, the trajectory of the club has only gone upwards.

Dubbed as “Hollywood FC,” Wrexham have achieved back-to-back promotions to the EFL League One. However, they are not your common, run of the mill promoted club. Despite being newly promoted, Wrexham have been tipped to gain promotion to EFL Championship in their very first season in League One. With players like Paul Mullin, Jack Mariott, James McClean and George Dobson, Wrexham currently possesses one of the best teams in the division. Moreover, the Welsh club also has approximately 2-million pounds in their transfer kitty, which is more than sufficient enough in England's third division. So, step into the shoes of Wrexham's manager and work toward realizing the dream of Ryan Reynolds and countless Wrexham fans—reaching the Premier League. It’s bound to be one of the most exciting Road to Glory saves in recent memory.

3) FC St. Pauli – Bundesliga (Germany)

Fresh off a stellar season in which they secured a promotion to the Bundesliga, St. Pauli will be an interesting career mode save. Die Kiezkicker return to the Bundesliga for the first time since 2001-02 season. However, they would be without their charismatic young coach, Florian Hurzeler. The 31-year-old head coach was swooped up by Brighton after impressing many with his unorthodox style. Without Hurzeler, St. Pauli have started the 2024/25 Bundesliga season in terrible fashion, drawing just once and losing three matches. They currently occupy the 17th spot in Bundesliga standings.

If you're itching for a career mode challenge with a club that desperately needs fresh, innovative coaching, St. Pauli could be your perfect start in EAFC 25. With official Matchday presentations and nearly every stadium scanned into the game, managing in Germany’s top-flight offers an incredibly authentic experience. However, with the smallest transfer budget in the Bundesliga, rebuilding St. Pauli will be no easy task. You'll need to think outside the box and get creative with your approach. And that’s exactly what makes this save so compelling—you’re the gritty underdog aiming to shatter the dominance of German giants like Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen. Can you rewrite the script and make St. Pauli a Bundesliga powerhouse?
