AC Milan Eye Feyenoord Star Santiago Gimenez in January Transfer Push

AC Milan have been busy this transfer window. First, they made an attempt to sign Manchester United’s wantaway star, Marcus Rashford. When that didn’t pan out, they turned their attention to Kyle Walker, a move that now seems all but wrapped up. But the Rossoneri aren’t stopping there—now they’re setting their sights on Feyenoord’s red-hot striker, Santiago Gimenez.

The Italian media has been buzzing over Santiago Gimenez and his potential move to AC Milan, and for good reason. The chatter reached a fever pitch after the Mexican striker played a starring role in Feyenoord’s stunning 3-0 Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich. Gimenez stole the show with a brilliant brace, celebrating one of his goals with what many interpreted as an 'I’m staying' gesture. But the plot thickened after the match when Gimenez’s comments added a layer of mystery. Speaking to Ziggo Sport at the end of the game, he put his fate in the hands of his faith. “The only one who knows my future is God. I put everything in his hands. I have been in love with Feyenoord since the first day I have been here. I have always received a lot of support from the fans and I want to repay them with my goals,” he said.

Santiago Gimenez is on fire this season, with 15 goals and 3 assists in just 18 appearances—a remarkable feat considering the 23-year-old Mexican striker missed a large chunk of the first half of the season due to a significant injury. His blistering form has turned heads across Europe, and it’s no surprise that AC Milan are eager to bring him to the San Siro this January. Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano provided the latest scoop on Milan’s pursuit of Gimenez. “AC Milan have prepared an official bid for Santiago Giménez to test Feyenoord’s position,” Romano shared. “Feyenoord board are still firm; they want to keep their stars like Hancko and Giménez in January. Huge proposal or no chance — AC Milan want to try, after encouragement from the player.”

Despite AC Milan’s keen interest, Feyenoord are unlikely to part ways with their star striker this month. With the Dutch side eyeing a deep run in the Champions League, letting Santiago Gimenez go mid-season would be a massive blow. Milan aren’t the only club to have come knocking. Nottingham Forest made their intentions clear with a €35 million bid, but Feyenoord swiftly turned it down. However, the Rossoneri may have an edge. Reports suggest that Gimenez is intrigued by the prospect of playing for Milan. If Milan come in with a substantial offer, it could prove hard for both Feyenoord and Gimenez to resist.
