The much-awaited groups of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup have finally been drawn. The ceremony took place in Miami, with several prominent figures like Ronaldo Nazario, Alessandro Del Piero and Ivanka Trump (US President-elect Donald Trump’s daughter) in attendance for the special occasion.
The stage is set, and the countdown begins for an exhilarating football spectacle as the tournament kicks off on June 15. All eyes will be on the curtain-raiser, where Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami faces off against Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly. This match promises to set the tone for a thrilling Group A, which also includes Brazilian giants Palmeiras and Portuguese heavyweights Porto. The group is bursting with intrigue, highlighted by a potential generational showdown: Messi, the GOAT himself, versus Estevao Willian, a rising star many believe could one day follow in his footsteps. When Inter Miami clashes with Palmeiras, it won’t just be a game—it’ll be a glimpse into football’s past and future colliding.
Over in Group B, fireworks are guaranteed as this "Group of Death" brings together a formidable lineup. Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, two European giants, are joined by 2024 Copa Libertadores winners Botafogo and the MLS’s Seattle Sounders. The reigning World Champions, Manchester City, headline Group E in another tantalizing mix. They’ll face Italian giants Juventus, with Morocco’s Wydad and UAE’s Al Ain completing the lineup. City’s precision and Juventus’s defensive resilience will make for gripping encounters, while the underdogs could spring surprises of their own in a group brimming with talent. And then there’s Group H, the group that screams star power. Real Madrid, fresh off their latest European triumph, are joined by Saudi powerhouse Al Hilal, Austria’s RB Salzburg, and Mexico’s Pachuca.
While FIFA has faced its fair share of doubts about this tournament’s appeal, the draw alone has already ignited fan anticipation. With Messi leading the charge, elite teams battling it out, and the promise of unforgettable moments, this tournament might just prove to be a football fan’s dream come true. USA’s President-elect Donald Trump gave his vote of confidence via a recorded message. During the ceremony, Trump said, “The event is going to be incredible.” He even labeled FIFA’s President Giani Infantino as a “winner,” before saying, “We’ve known each other a long time and I’m so honored to have this kind of relationship because soccer is going through the roof as everyone knows.” The revamped FIFA Club World Cup will be hosted by the USA, across 12 state-of-the-art venues. The final of the tournament will be held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on 13th July.
