Travis Head Becomes the ICC No.1 T20 Batsman

After Australia's defeat against India in the qualifying match for the semi-finals, Travis Head becomes the ICC No.1 T20 Batsman.

Had Travis Head not been sent back to the pavilion by Jasprit Bumrah, things would have been different for Australia and India. Travis, who tried to use every ounce of energy and his time on the pitch to take the team nearer to the target score, got out at 76 runs off 43 balls.

Eventually, Australia lost against India by 24 runs.

But something changed for the Australian hitting machine!

After the match and incredible batting performance, Travis Head became the ICC No.1 T20 Batsman, replacing Suryakumar Yadav who scored 31 runs off 16 balls in the same contest.

Travis Head hit 9 fours, and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 176.74 which led him to the top of the ICC T20 Batsman ranking. Currently, Travis has 844 points in his account, 2 points ahead of Suryakumar.

But the standings can change again as Australia has already knocked out the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024. Suryakumar still has some matches to gain the first spot again as India will be facing England in the Semi-Final 2. From the British’s end, Philip Salt has the 3rd spot in the ICC T20 Batsman rankings with 816 points. Salt must perform at his best level in the next two matches to win the first spot.
