Rohit’s Shares Concerns Before India England Semi Final Match

In a few hours, India will be confronting England to advance into the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024 final. Rohit Sharma has his own worries and concerns.

Before the India England semifinal match, Rohit Sharma, the Indian captain, addressed the media and shared his concerns about the contest. Rohit Sharma does not acknowledge about India having any kind of advantage due to the pre-decided venue in Guyana.

“I don’t see that as an advantage,” Rohit said.

The captain acknowledged that many English players have the experience of contesting in Guyana, Indian players are no different.

Rohit underlined that circumstances such as weather are beyond anyone's control, considering the same, none of the team has an advantage.

“The only thing I’m worried about is that if the match gets delayed due to rain and goes late into the night, we might miss the charter flight,” Rohit admitted.

Rohit’s Concerns Over Scheduling

Rohit expressed reservations over the ICC's scheduling arrangements. ICC had decided already that the semi-final 2, where India is placed irrespective of the Super 8 performance, won’t have a reserve in case the match gets abandoned by rain.

The decision faced a lot of criticism to potentially comprise equality, specifically allotted to the significant team in the tournament. ICC gets accusations from international media for bending the rules and favouring the Indian cricket team.

Rohit underlined that the team's primary goal remains to win the match, but this transportation issue adds needless stress to a significant game.

The ICC's step not to add a reserve day for the semi-final 2 has sparked anger from fans and experts. With the chance of rain approaching, Rohit Sharma's remarks underscore the possible ramifications of such scheduling and raise concerns about prioritizing broadcast schedules over guaranteeing fair and continuous competition.

This comes despite India qualifying for the finals in the event of a washout owing to their superior placing on the Super 8 points tally.
