In the 2nd match of the Indian Premier League 2024, Punjab Kings defeated Delhi Capitals. Great day for the PBKS, but a bad start for the Delhi Capitals.
The lucky charm worked out for the Punjab Kings, their first match against Delhi Capitals resulted in their favor. PBKS won the match by (4) wickets. Our match prediction was right! Our analysts were on Punjab’s side.
The Punjab’s Captain did the right thing by opting to field first after winning the match. Since the pitch at the newly built Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium favor the bowlers. The decision turned out to be fruitful for them.
Though PBKS gained control of the match by bowling first, but DC was not about to back down. They started great, every batter added runs to the scoreboard. The openers - Warner and Marsh scored (29) and (20) runs respectively.
Porel was deadly with the bat, with a strike rate of (320), he scored (32 off 10) balls. While Abhishek Porel helped DC’s scoreboard pick up the pace, Warner created a secure platform for good batting performance.
After the fall of openers’ wickets, Warner stood as a wall giving a tough competition to the Punjab bowlers. He scored (33) runs off (25) balls.
After getting back on the field upon recovery, Rishabh Pant was expected to leave a mark in the first match. But his magic didn’t work. He got dismissed in the (12.4) over and scored (18) runs off (13) balls.
Arshdeep and Harshal were the bowling stars of the Punjab Kings. Both took (2) wickets each. Arshdeep dismissed Marsh and Sumit, whereas Harshal dismissed Warner and Pant. Rabada, Harpreet, and Rahul took one wicket each.
PBKS got the target of (175) runs to chase. With high hopes, openers were getting the knack of the innings. Soon Ishant took Shikhar’s wicket and Punjab got their first blow.
A couple of deliveries later, DC sent Jonny back to the pavilion. Hopes were about to be shattered.
When the hell was about to break loose for PBKS, Sam Curran saved the day. The batters scored much-needed (63) runs off (47) balls. Sam’s exceptional batting led Punjab’s unbalanced boat safely to the shore. Prabhsimran assisted Sam for a couple of overs by scoring (26) runs.
Sam had done his job well, the one who marked Punjab’s victory was Liam Livingstone. He guarded the wickets till the last run and Punjab finished the match in (19.2) overs while still having (4) wickets in hand.
Kuldeep, Khaleel, and Ishant’s bowling didn’t work out. Three of them took (2), (2), and (1) wicket respectively.
