Nitish Kumar Reddy won the Player of the Match award for his incredible 64 and a wicket. Undoubtedly, Nitish has made his mark and is SRH’s future star.
Despite leaking runs at an economy rate of 11 in his 3 overs, Reddy claimed the vital wicket of Jitesh Sharma when the match hung in the balance.
With 69 runs needed from the last 28 balls, Reddy opted for a slower bouncer, and Jitesh obliged by hitting it straight to Abhishek Sharma at deep square leg. Reddy revealed that Cummins backed his plan to try the variation, and it paid dividends for Hyderabad.
At the same time, Reddy was named the match-winner after scoring 64 runs off of 37 balls. After a cautious beginning, he went after Harpreet Brar, hitting the left-arm spinner for two sixes and two fours before Arshdeep Singh bowled him out.
He also credited Abdul Samad for boosting his confidence during their 50-run partnership after Hyderabad found themselves at 100/5. Samad's aggressive intent allowed Reddy to free his arms.
With this 2-run win, Hyderabad currently occupies the fifth spot in the table with 6 points and a positive net run rate of +0.344 after securing 3 victories from 5 matches.
