The club and Rahul Dravid have been in talks to fill the vacant spot for the next IPL season - 2025. Rahul Dravid has recently dropped his designation as the Head Coach after the team won the T20 World Cup 2024.
After suffering from an unfortunate defeat to Australia in the ICC World Cup 2023, Rahul Dravid and his team were eager for redemption. The team came out with flying colors after defeating the Proteas in the 2024 T20 World Cup final.
After registering the win, Rahul Dravid addressed the journalists with a joke that he’ll be unemployed after this contest. But that is not the case, Kolkata Knight Riders want his experience and expertise to become champions consecutively for the second time.
KKR’s desperation for a reliable Head Coach can be ascertained from the fact that they are ready to offer more than INR 12 crore. This amount is more than Rahul Dravid earned as the Head Coach of the Indian cricket team.
Undoubtedly, Rahul Dravid has served wholeheartedly to the sport. Right after his retirement in 2012, Rahul began coaching.
The veteran started as the Mentor for Rajasthan Royals between 2014 and 2015. In the same period, Rahul Dravid served as the Mentor of the Indian Team for the India Tour of England 2014.
After his successful start as a mentor, Rahul Dravid was appointed as the Head Coach for the India U-19 Team. Along with coaching the U-19 team which won the title in 2018, Rahul holds essential credit for training present cricket stars like Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, and Washington Sundar among others. Later in 2016, he also served as a mentor for the Delhi IPL side.
Let’s see if Kolkata Knight Riders can become the champion team for the 4th time under Rahul Dravid’s guidance. KKR has won the 2012, 2014 and 2024 IPL season.
