India W Enters the Asia Cup 2024 Final After Defeating Bangladesh

After defeating Bangladesh W in the semifinal, India W enters the 2024 Asia Cup W Final.

Thanks to Renuka Singh’s incredible bowling and Smriti’s hard-hitting batting, India confirms their chances of entering the Women's Asia Cup 2024 Finals. India defeated Bangladesh in the semifinals by 10 wickets.

It is the 9th time in the tournament that India has entered the Women’s Asia Finals.

Match Overview – IND W vs BAN W

Bangladesh won the match and decided to bat first.

Bangladesh’s performance was not the kind of one that a team showcases. Bangladesh’s first wicket fell in the first over and in no time, Bangladesh was standing at 21-3.

The top batting order was a failure – Dilara, Murshida, and Ishma scored 6, 4, and 8 runs, respectively.

Only Nigar Sultana managed to score runs for the team. The batter scored 32 runs off 51 balls but her efforts were left in vain as Radha took her wicket in the 19.1 over.

With a terrible batting performance, Bangladesh scored only 80 runs.

Easy for India

The Indian opening duo put the pedal to the medal right from the first over. India started thrashing Bangladesh bowlers right from the first boundary on the 4th ball of the first over.

Shafali joined hands with Smriti with the intention to end the game early. Smriti maintained to assert dominance on every bowl and Shafali assisted well in establishing a great batting partnership.

Shafali got a second chance after she tried to hit a slog sweep, but the fielder dropped the catch.

With easy hands, Smriti hit fours, one after another and completed her 25th half-century in the T20I. Eventually, India completed the innings in 11 overs, Smriti and Shafali scored 55* and 26* runs respectively.

Bad Decision by Bangladesh

Choosing to bat first turned out to be a suicide mission for Bangladesh. Renuka Singh left no stone unturned to ensure that Bangladesh’s top order falls deep.

Bowling three overs in the powerplay, Renuka dismissed Dilara Akter, Murshida Khatum, and Ishma Tanjim.

Though the Bangla captain tried to go for a cautious approach against Indian bowlers, but wickets kept falling one after the another after Deepti Sharma and Radha Yadav’s spin magic.

Radha dismissed every batter in the middle order. Deepti contributed to maintaining pressure by taking a wicket in the 13.3 over.

What’s Next for India?

With this victory, India W has set her foot in the Women's Asia Cup 2024 Final. Their opponent would either be Sri Lanka or Pakistan, the semifinal 2 match is yet to conclude.
