India overpowered England in the first innings by scoring a massive score of (396) runs. Yashasvi Jaiswal became the star of the match, the young batter scored a double century, (209) runs.
The score was (1-1) before the commencement of the 3rd test. India cashed the opportunity and took the lead by defeating England by (434) runs. In the first innings of the match, Indian batters scored (445) runs. Major contributors were Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, and Safaraz Khan. they scored (131), (112), and (62) respectively.
English bowlers ended the first innings in (130.5) overs. James, Mark, Tom, Root, and Rehan took (1), (4), (1), (1), and (2) wickets respectively. England batters could score only (319) runs. India took the lead on the first day.
The Indian batters were unstoppable in the second innings. Yashasvi became the star again. The opener scored (214) runs. Shubham Gill could not finish a run and got out at (91) runs. Sarfaraz played till the end and scored (68). The team scored a total (430) runs.
Whereas, England’s performance could not bear any fruit. The entire team was whitewashed at (122) runs. Ravindra Jadeja took (5) wickets. Jasprit, Kuldeep, and Ravichandran took (1), (2), and (1) wicket respectively.

The cricket pitch in Ranchi is expected to behave like other subcontinent wickets, offering favourable batting conditions initially before deteriorating under the heat and supporting spinners later on.
However, there have been rumours that India might opt for a different type of pitch, one that favours spin bowling, especially since Jasprit Bumrah will not be participating in the fourth Test.
