England Becomes the First Team to Qualify into Semis in T20I World Cup 2024

England enters the final stages of the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024. This came into effect after England defeated the United States in the latest match.

In a recent contest against the United States, England registered a victory by 10 wickets. The match’s result allowed England to enter the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024 semifinals.

First Innings

Winning the toss, England decided to field first.

The United States had a poor start. The first wicket fell in the last ball of the first over. Trying to hit a shot towards deep square leg, Gous couldn’t judge the delivery length and Philip Salt caught the ball safely. Andries scored 8 runs off 5 balls.

The innings picked up some momentum till 5.3 over. This time, Steven was caught out by Sam Curran at 12 runs off 13 balls.

NR Kumar and Anderson helped the team add some runs to the scoreboard. NR Kumar scored 30 runs off 24 balls, hitting 4 fours, and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 125.00. Anderson scored 29 off 28 balls at a strike rate of 103.57.

Then came Harmeet Singh who was the last batsman to add runs. He scored 21 runs off 17 balls, after Harmeet, the remaining 4 batsmen couldn’t score a single run.

Chris Jordan emerged as an efficient bowler. Delivering 2.5 overs, he took 4 wickets in 10 runs at the economy rate of 3.50. At the same time, Adil and Sam took 2 wickets each. Topley and Livingstone took 1 wicket each.

England had to chase 115 runs to win the match.

Second Innings

England was not in the mood to lose a single wicket. Philip Salt and Jos Butler, the duo finished the match and hit 117 runs in 9.4 overs. The innings got over in half of its time.

Salt scored 25* runs off 21 balls, hitting 2 fours at the strike rate of 119.05. It seemed like Salt was there to play along with Jos and assist him in scoring the runs.

The captain, Jos Buttler, scored 83 runs off 38 balls, hitting 6 fours, and 7 sixes at the strike rate of 218.42.

United States bowling had to face the wrath of English batsmen. Harmeet turned out to be the most expensive bowler. In just 2 overs, the bowler gave away 36 runs at an economy of 18.00.

With this win, England officially enter the semifinals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
