Canada Cricket team is appearing for the first time in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup and has announced their squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024.
Canada, set to make their T20 World Cup debut, has announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming tournament. The team secured their place in the World Cup after defeating Bermuda in the ICC T20 World Cup Americas Region Final.
All-rounder Saad Bin Zafar will lead the charge as captain, while Kanwarpal Tathgur, a batsman with only eight List A appearances to his name, and Jeremy Gordon, a right-hand batsman who made his Canada debut in 2012, have also been included in the 15-member squad. The experienced 39-year-old all-rounder Junaid Siddiqui brings his veteran presence to the team.
Aaron Johnson is a talented batsman who will be crucial for Canada's batting lineup and Kaleem Sana is a pace bowler who has impressed with his wicket-taking abilities. Harsh Thaker, Nicholas Kirton, and Dilpreet Bajwa are the only players on the team below 30 years of age.
While some players like Nikhil Dutta and Srimantha Wijeyeratne missed out on selection, Tajinder Singh has been named as a reserve and will travel with the team to the tournament.

The Canadian squad, with a significant number of players of Indian and Pakistani origin, finds itself in a challenging Group A. They'll be facing some cricketing giants in the group stage, including co-hosts USA, India, Pakistan, and Ireland.
Canada's journey begins with a clash against the US in Dallas on June 1st. They will then lock horns with Ireland on June 7th, Pakistan on June 11th, and conclude their group stage campaign against India on June 15th.
