Rising Talent – Abhishek Sharma Scored his First Century in T20I

The 2nd T20I match against Zimbabwe turned out to be extremely special for Abhishek Sharma. Read the blog to find out how!

After a surprising defeat by Zimbabwe in the 1st T20I of the India Tour of Zimbabwe 2024, India made a great comeback in the 2nd T20I. Abhishek Sharma holds larger credit for ensuring the addition of maximum runs on the scoreboard.

Winning the toss, India decided to bat first.

Abhishek Sharma did what openers are expected to after the fall of Shubman Gill’s wicket in 1.2 overs. Sharma scored 100 runs off 47 balls at the strike rate of 212.77, hitting 7 fours, and 8 sixes.

Abhishek’s explosive performance and partnership with Travis Head for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2024 led him to play for India in the International T20 contests.

While walking the talk, Abhishek Sharma performed his best in the 2nd T20I. The first T20I didn’t turn out to be favorable for the opener. But he has surely made his mark in the 2nd T20I at the Harare Sports Club, Harare.

Abhishek’s IPL Performance

Abhishek Sharma, an explosive batsman with a strong game against pace and spin, began in the middle order but quickly rose to the top three for Punjab in domestic cricket and Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL. He's also an effective left-arm spinner who can startle batters with his backspinning legcutter.

Making his debut in the IPL 2024, Abhishek Sharma played 16 matches, and 16 innings and scored 484 runs at the average and strike rates of 32.27 and 204.21. Abhishek Sharma scored his highest total of 75* against Lucknow Super Giants.

With his impeccable talent and young energy, Abhishek Sharma is yet to conquer the cricket world.
