West Indies Finished the Match in Half of the Innings

In the recent clash between the United States and West Indies got wrapped up in just 11 overs in the second innings.

The major highlight of the recent contest between the United States and West Indies was that WI finished the match in just 10.5 overs. The Caribbean team eventually won the 46th match of the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024 by 9 wickets.

First Innings

Winning the toss, West Indies decided to field first.

Things started to get out of control for the American Cricket Team when Steven Taylor got out in the 1.2 overs, scoring only 2 runs off 7 balls.

Andries and NR Kumar tried to get things in control but soon NR Kumar fell prey to a tossed-up ball by Motie and got out by lbw. He scored 20 runs off 19 balls.

After Andries’ wicket at the 7.5 over, the US’ batting performance declined. The team got whitewashed at 19.5 over, leaving a target score of 128 for West Indies.

It was a huge task for the Americans to confront the Carribean bowling. Roston emerged to be the most efficient bowler. The Player of the Match took 3 wickets, in 4 overs at the economy rate of 4.80.

Delivering 3.5 overs, Russell took 3 wickets, giving away 31 runs at an economy of 8.10. Alzarri and Motie took 2 and 1 wicket respectively.

Second Innings

West Indies had to chase 128 runs in 120 balls to win. Shai Hope and Johnson Charles opened. Shai Hope was ready to wrap it up and go home. Playing explosively, Shai Hope hit 4 fours, and 8 sixes, scoring 82* runs off 39 balls at the strike rate of 210.26.

Shai did half of the task single-handedly. Johnson Charles couldn’t stay on the pitch for long. Harmeet Singh dismissed him at 15 runs off 14 balls.

Shai and Nicholas Pooran ended the match in 10.5 overs at a loss of one wicket. Nicholas scored 27 runs off 12 balls. The US bowlers didn’t get a chance to eliminate the WI batsmen and eventually, West Indies won the match by 9 wickets.

What’s Next?

United States of America will be facing England in the 49th match of the T20 World Cup 2024 on 23rd June at the Kensington Oval. United States has already two matches of the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup 2024. To improve their chances of staying in the tournament, the US must win more matches.

West Indies will be confronting South Africa in their next clash on 24th June at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. WI is currently standing at the 2nd spot along with India with one victory and one loss. Let's see if they can beat the team who has got the 6th consecutive win in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
