Pakistan Departs from the T20I World Cup as USA Qualifies for Super 8

USA qualifies for the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup 2024 in the first attempt.

The weather conditions during the USA vs IRE thrashed Pakistan’s hope to qualify for the Super 8 of the World Cup 2024.

The contest between the United States of America and Ireland was abandoned due to rain. The teams didn't get the chance to play a single ball. Firstly, the wet field delayed the toss process and after diligent efforts from the ground staff, the match had to be abandoned.

This was a major upsetting situation for the Pakistan cricket team because even if they win the scheduled contest against Ireland on 16th June, they will be a point behind the American cricket team.

USA’s performance has been consistent so far. The country is hosting an ICC event for the first time. The team is playing their first T20 World Cup and is performing well.

Out of three matches, the US won 2 of them and lost one against the ICC No.1 T20 Team, India.

This defeat against India ignited Pakistan’s hopes to enter the Super 8 but what happened in the USA vs IRE completely reduced their chances to zero.

Pakistan was defeated in the first two matches against the USA and India but managed to take down Canada. Their match against Canada could’ve turned things around for them, but the fate of Group A is a little out of the line.

This is massive damage to Pakistan T20I Team who were the runner-ups in the ICC T20 World Cup final against Australia.

Whereas the World Cup 2024 seems to be promising for the United States. After qualifying for the Super 8 of the T20 World 2024, the team gets direct qualification for the 2026 edition of the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup.
