Delay in the Homecoming of Men in Blue

The 2024 T20 World Cup winners are still waiting for their homecoming due to unfavourable weather conditions.

There is still a delay in the homecoming of the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024 winning team. Team India’s charter flight which was supposed to come from New Jersey, United States of America got late in reaching Barbados than scheduled.

After defeating the Proteas in the T20 World Cup 2024 Final on Saturday, Men in Blue led by Rohit Sharma were supposed to leave for India on Sunday, but things got delayed. The team had to stay on the island nation due to environmental threats.

Due to the concerns of hurricane ‘Beryl,’ the government shut down the airport and cancelled the flights. Considering the security of the team, support staff, families, media, and BCCI authorities, there are possible delays in the arrival. For now, the team is expected to land in Delhi on Thursday morning.

About Team India’s Flight Status

AIC24WC – Air India Champions 24 World Cup, which is an Air India special charter flight would be bringing the Indian cricket team back.

The flight took off from New Jersey on 2nd July and is expected to arrive in Barbados around 2 AM Local Time. As per the updated itinerary, the flight will take off from Barbados at 4:30 AM Local Time. Covering a long air journey of 16 hours, the Indian team will land in Delhi on Thursday at 6 AM IST.

As the Grantley Adams International Airport resumed its operations, there were no further expected delays in the departure of the Indian team.

Rajeev Shukla, BCCI-Vice President publicized the information via a post on X-

"Thank God team India is flying back from Barbados this evening to Delhi. Will be reaching tomorrow evening. They were stuck for three days there because of massive hurricane. @BCCI has made all arrangements for safe flight of players back home. BCCI secretary @JayShah himself is monitoring the whole situation,"

For the Indian cricket fans around the country, it is a proud moment as the team has quenched the thirst of 13 years. The Men in Blue became the first team to win a T20 World Cup undefeated!
