India Maintains Its Winning Streak, Defeats AFG Yesterday

India is not ready to let their opponent team emerge victorious in the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024.

India does it again. Yet another day, yet another match and India wins again. This time, the men in blue defeated Afghanistan in the 43rd match of the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024.

India won the toss and decided to bat.

First Innings

The decision turned out to be in their favor. The opener and the captain, however, could not stay on the pitch for long. Fazalhaq Farooqi took Rohit Sharma’s wicket in the 2.5 overs. Rohit got dismissed at 8 runs off 13 balls.

Rishabh Pant comes in after Rohit. Hopes ignited, and the duo of Virat and Rishabh looked promising until Rashid took his first wicket, Rishabh got out due to lbw at 20 runs off 11 balls.

Kohli was playing with patience and consistency, but Rashid was not satisfied with one wicket. Trying to pull a shot for a boundary, Kohli landed an easy catch in Nabi’s hands. Kohli scored 24 runs off 24 balls.

India needed a batsman that could save the day. It was ICC No.1 T20I batsman, Suryakumar Yadav who helped to add runs to the scoreboard. Before Kohli’s dismissal, India was at 62-3.

Suryakumar scored a much-needed half-century for the team (53 off 28 balls). Hardik Pandya played responsible innings and scored 32 runs.

With this incredible performance, Suryakumar becomes the first Indian batter to win the POTM award in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

And in 20 overs, India scored 180.

Second Innings

Afghanistan had to score 181 runs in 20 overs to win the match. Gurbaz and Zazai opened for the team, but the opening order collapsed. The reason was Bumrah, he took the first wicket in the second over, dismissing Gurbaz at 11 runs.

Soon in the 4th over, AFG lost another wicket, this time Zazai, and Bumrah did it again. Zazai got caught out at just 2 runs off 4 balls.

Like India, Afghanistan needed somebody to score runs for the team. But in their case, none of the batsmen turned out to be a helping hand. Only Omarzai was able to score the highest in the team, 26 runs off 20 balls.

In the pursuit of scoring runs and achieving the target score, Afghanistan lost all the wickets and overs at 134 runs. Eventually, AFG lost against India by 47 runs.

India utilized its bowling potential completely. Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah took 3 wickets each. Bumrah’s bowling skills are exceptional, giving away just 7 runs, Bumrah took 3 wickets in 4 overs and bowled 1 maiden over at the economy rate of 1.80.
