ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024 Group C Preview: Teams and Schedule

Read every essential detail about Group C of the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024.

The ICC Men’s T20I World Cup 2024 is divided into 4 groups of 5 teams each – Group A, Group B, Group C, and Group D. Each group has an interesting mix of teams, including experienced and emerging cricket nations.

For instance, Group A has India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and the United States which is an overall balanced calibre and experience. The same goes with Group B which includes Australia, Scotland, Oman, Namibia, and England.

Group C includes Blackcaps (New Zealand), West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda and Papua New Guinea.

Each side has its unique skills and plans, laying the groundwork for an exciting fight in which anything may happen. The West Indies is co-hosting the event with the USA, so the home team hopes to take advantage of familiar circumstances and make a big impression right away.

Meanwhile, New Zealand aims to maintain its consistent performance and clinch a berth in the latter stages. Afghanistan, Uganda, and Papua New Guinea are keen to demonstrate their abilities on a global scale and disturb the existing order of cricketing powerhouses.

Let’s dive into essential details about each team, the key players, and their fixtures.

New Zealand Squad for T20 World Cup

The lineup includes more experienced players such as captain Kane Williamson, Trent Boult, and Tim Southee. This will be Williamson's sixth T20 World Cup, and fourth as captain. Tim Southee and Trent Boult will play their seventh and fifth tournaments, respectively.

Kyle Jamieson, the crucial pacer, and Adam Milne, the all-rounder, will not be included in the team due to injuries. Both are suffering from back and ankle problems, respectively.

Colin Munro, the top-order batsman, is back in action. The selectors are also keen on pairing young player Rachin Ravindra with pacer Matt Henry.

The squad has chosen pacer Ben Sears as a reserve and will go with him to the United States and the West Indies.

The team will be wearing a new jersey which includes a blend of typical black tones and grey, evoking nostalgia for the early 1990s. The traditional fern logo is no longer part of the shirt. The fern has been replaced with the Southern Cross (a national heritage symbol).
