Adam Zampa – First Australian Bowler to Take 100 T20I Wickets

Adam Zampa has created history by becoming the first Australian bowler to get 100 wickets in the International T20 matches.

The Australian bowling wizard, Adam Zampa, has created history, adding another achievement to Australia’s account as a Team. Adam has become the first Australian bowler to take 100 wickets in the Men’s T20I history.

Adam took his 100th wicket in the contest against Namibia in the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua.

The 32-year-young bowler got 4 wickets in the first innings by dismissing Zane Green, David Wiese, Ruben Trumpelmann, and Bernard Scholtz from the crease.

In the T20I cricket, Adam Zampa now has 100 wickets with an economy rate of 7.20 after performing in 83 matches.

After winning the toss, Australia decided to bowl first.

Namibia couldn’t start well, Michael van Lingen and Nikolaas Davin scored 10 runs off 10 balls and 2 runs off 7 balls respectively.

The Namibia captain, Gerhard Erasmus was the only run-scorer from the team. The all-rounder scored 36 runs off 43 balls and hit 1 six and 4 fours. Despite him, none of the batters could present a satisfactory score and add runs to the scoreboard for the team.

Zampa was the star of the Australian bowling line-up. The bowler took 4 wickets by giving away only 12 runs in 4 overs at the economy rate of 3.00.

Who's at the second spot in the rankings of who is the highest wicket-taker for Australia in T20? The answer is, the Australian pacer Mitchel Starc with 76 wickets at an economy rate of 7.72 after playing 62 matches T20 matches.

Talking about the statistics of the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup. Adam Zampa is leading the bowling statistics by a high margin. Mitchel Starc ranks 2nd, followed by Josh Hazlewood on the 3rd with 64 wickets in 48 matches with a 21.42 average rate.

Adam has been performing consistently in every T20 World Cup season. In 2023, Adam was the second-highest wicket-taker in the ICC T20 World Cup after Mohammed Shami.

With this victory, Australia has qualified for the Super 8 of the T20I World Cup. Australia will confront Scotland on 16th June at the Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium.
