Manchester United have been among the most active clubs in the summer transfer window, and it seems the Red Devils are closing in on securing their top midfield target, Manuel Ugarte.
Manuel Ugarte has been linked with a move to Manchester United for the entire summer. However, it seems like the deal will finally come to fruition during the latter stages of the transfer window. According to Sky Sports, talks between Manchester United and PSG are advancing, as there’s a willingness from both parties to get the deal done. The Red Devils are desperate for a player with Ugarte’s ball winning capabilities. Meanwhile, PSG recently signed Portuguese wonderkid Joao Neves, who plays in the same position as Ugarte. Hence, Ugarte moving to Manchester is very plausible.
A permanent deal is what both the parties are looking for. However, due to financial restrictions, a loan move with an obligation to buy is also being considered. As per reports by Sky Sports, “There is a willingness from all parties to get a deal done, with one source saying there is a cautious optimism the move can happen before the deadline.”
United have already signed Leny Yoro from Lille, Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna, Mattijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich for a combined fee of approximately 140-million euros. The addition of Ugarte will further strengthen Ten Hag’s squad. However, in order to balance their books, the Red Devils have let some seriously talented youngsters go.
With the Red Devils already having spent a hefty 140 million euros in the transfer window, it’s only a matter of time before we see some players heading out of Old Trafford. The focus is now on balancing the books and trimming the squad after such a big investment. United have been busy making moves, selling Mason Greenwood to Marseille, Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham, Facundo Pellistri to Panathinaikos, Donny van de Beek to Girona, and Willy Kambwala to Villarreal. These deals have brought in approximately 57-million euros.
However, fans should keep an eye on other fringe United players. Jadon Sancho and Scott McTominay have been on the radar of several clubs. In fact, Fulham made two bids for McTominay, but the two parties couldn’t reach an agreement. In McTominay’s place, Fulham signed Sander Berge from Burnley. Meanwhile, Sancho has also attracted interest from the likes of PSG, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund in recent months. But as of now, it’s more likely that the 24-year-old winger will stay in Manchester. Another player to keep a close eye on is Hannibal Mejbri. The 21-year-old midfielder has entered the last year of his deal. Furthermore, he has attracted interest from Championship side, Burnley. Watch this space carefully.
