3 Premier League New Boys Destined to Take the League by Storm

The Premier League is the best, most competitive league in the world. That’s the reason why approximately 1.87 billion people follow the English top-flight around the globe. To put these bonkers numbers into perspective -- one out of every six people on Earth watches or follows the Premier League.

There’s nothing quite like the Premier League. Only a football fan can understand the giddy feeling that comes at the start of each Premier League season. Each new season brings with it renewed hope and optimism, along with talented and exciting new players. While some new players go on to become Premier League legends, others find themselves lost in the super competitive environment of the league. However, here are three Premier League newcomers who have the potential to take the league by storm.

1) Yankuba Minteh (Brighton)

The Seagulls splashed the cash for this 20-year-old Gambian winger. Brighton reprotedly paid approximately 30-million pounds to Newcastle in order to acquire Minteh’s services. Many fans were left puzzled by this decision, as Minteh had never played in Europe’s top five leagues. However, the Seagulls have invested in his outrageous potential. Last season, the Gambian scored 10 goals and provide 5 assists for Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie.

It looks like Yankuba Minteh has already settled into life in the south coast, as he has been on fire during the preseason. It took Minteh just 15 minutes to score for Brighton on his unofficial debut against Kashima Antlers. Premier League defenders should be weary of Minteh elite dribbling ability. He's in the 99th percentile for progressive carries, with 7.85 per game, and successful take-ons, averaging 3.65 per match. Those numbers are seriously impressive!

However, Minteh would have to battle the likes of Kaoru Mitoma, Simon Adingra, Julio Enciso and Jeremy Sarmiento for a place in the starting XI. Having said that, the 20-year-old Gambian will get plenty of opportunity under the leadership of Fabian Hurzeler. The young German coach plays an attacking brand of football, which will suit Minteh’s playing style. Premier League fans you have been warned, don’t underestimate Yankuba Minteh.

2) Savio (Manchester City)

The 20-year-old Brazilian has been on the books of the City Football Group for more than two years. He first joined Manchester City’s French sister club Troyes during the 2022/23 season. However, he was instantly loaned to PSV Eindhoven for that season. The following season, Savio embarked on another loan move, but this time to Spanish minnows Girona. Both Savio and Girona were a match made in heaven. Under head coach Michel’s leadership, Savio blossomed into one of the best wingers in Europe. As a result, Girona qualified for their first-ever Champions League.

Savio was seriously impressive during the 2023/24 season. As a teenager. Savio scored 9 goals and provided 10 assists in one of the toughest European leagues. It was only a matter of time before big sharks started to circle Savio. Manchester City eventually snapped him up for a guaranteed £25 million, with an additional £15 million in potential add-ons. Savio ranks in the 90th percentile for progressive carries in Europe, with 5.56 progressive carries per game. Furthermore, he’s in the 93rd percentile for successful take-ons, averaging 3.21 per game.

Following Julian Alvarez blockbuster transfer to Atletico Madrid, Savio will have an increased role in Pep Guardiola’s plans for the upcoming season. Pep prefers wingers who are adept and comfortable with 1v1 duels on the wing, and Savio is a player who will fit Pep’s system like a glove. The only apprehension most City fans have is; will Pep give him the opportunity to flourish? In think, only time will have answers to that question.

3) Diachi Kamada (Crystal Palace)

Crystal Palace have been struck in mid-table mediocrity for the past decade. However, the 2024/25 season could be their best Premier League season in recent memory. Oliver Glasner has completely revitalized the club with his positive brand of football. Glasner has a history of guiding unfancied teams to glory. He led Eintracht Frankfurt to Europa League glory in 2021. Apart from that, Frankfurt became a European football regular under his leadership, constantly finishing in the top six of the Bundesliga standings.

One key player during Glasner’s stint with Frankfurt was Diachi Kamada. The Japanese international left Frankfurt last season in order to join Lazio. However, Kamada couldn’t settle in Italy. And after just one season with Lazio, the 28-year-old midfielder decided to join Crystal Palace on a two-year contract for free. Kamada could be one of the biggest bargain buys of the summer.  Diachi Kamada already knows Glasner’s tactics inside out because of their time together in Frankfurt. Additionally, under Glasner’s guidance, the Japanese internation became one of the most lethal and creative attacking midfielders in the Bundesliga. That form can be replicated in the Prem too, especially after Michael Olise’s departure.

One of the most interesting aspects of Kamada’s game is his positioning. He ranks in the 96th percentile for touches in the opposition's penalty area. Moreover, he’s in the 86th percentile for progressive passes received, with 4.25 per game. It is a very unique talent, which some of the very best players in the world only possess. On the defensive end, Kamada is no slouch either. He ranks in the 91st percentile of midfielders in Europe for tackles, with 3 tackles per game. Many Palace fans might not realize this, but Kamada’s form is closely linked to how well the Eagles perform this season.
