We are not even a month into the new season, and Premier League fans have already seen their fair share of thrilling matches and outrageous goals. As a result, the Premier League has announced the Goal, Manager and Player of the Month for August.
Cole Palmer started the 2024/25 season from where he left off – wowing fans with his outrageous skills. The reigning PFA Young Player of the Year goal against Wolves has been named Premier League’s Goal of the Month. The 22-year-old's delightful chipped goal against Wolves last month helped Chelsea secure a 6-2 win at Molineux. The Chelsea starlet had to fend of competition from Yves Bissouma, Mateo Kovacic and Jarrod Bowen.
Elsewhere, Brighton’s Fabian Hurzeler has been named Prem’s Manager of the Month for August. The youngest coach in Premier League history has led Brighton to a remarkable start, winning two and drawing one in their opening three games of the season. Hurzeler, who just a decade ago was playing for Bayern Munich’s developmental squad, led Brighton to victories over Premier League mainstays like Everton and Manchester United.
Brighton’s head coach had to outshine some serious competition to earn this honor, going head-to-head with the likes of Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, and Liverpool’s Arne Slot. It’s an impressive lineup to be included in, and Brighton fans will be hopeful that Hurzeler continues to work his magic and lead the south coast side to even greater heights.
Besides naming the Goal and Coach of the Month, the Premier League also announced that Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has been named the Player of the Month for August. The 24-year-old Norwegian has enjoyed a scintillating start to the 2024/25 Premier League, season scoring back-to-back hattricks against Ipswich Town and West Ham in Gameweek 2 and 3. In total, Haaland has already scored 7 goals in just three matches this season.
If he maintains this incredible pace, he could rack up an astounding 89 goals by the end of the season. Though it's unlikely he'll keep up this blistering rate, don't count out the possibility of him smashing his own Premier League goal-scoring record this year. The Norwegian beat off the likes of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, Aston Villa’s Amadou Onana and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah for the honor.
