It’s been a good few days for Morgan Rogers. Just days after making his England debut, the 22-year-old has signed a long-term contract with Aston Villa. Morgan Rogers’ new deal sees him contracted to the Birmingham-based club till 2030.
Morgan Rogers is making waves this season for Aston Villa. The 22-year-old has enjoyed a stellar season so far with Aston Villa, contributing three goals and three assists. Since his arrival from Middlesborough in January 2024, he has been a vital part of Unai Emery’s squad. However, not even the most optimistic of Villa fans would have thought that Rogers would take such a massive leap this season. Rogers has been one of the first names on the team sheet, and he hasn’t let Unai Emery down. As a result of his impressive form and growing importance to the squad, Aston Villa have rewarded Rogers with a contract extension that ties him to the club until 2030.
According to Fabrizio Romano, “Unai Emery and all people at the club consider Rogers as key player for present and future.” Following his contract extension, many people have speculated that Aston Villa have handed Rogers a massive pay rise due to his stellar performances this season. In an interview with Villa News, Birmingham-based journalist Bryan King said, “I wonder how much he is earning; I wonder how much Ollie Watkins is earning, et cetera. After the season Rogers had, he would’ve wanted to discuss that contract again. He already was contracted until 2029. Therefore, for Villa to be able to extend that deal, Rogers’ pay must have increased. Well done Villa for getting it sorted and well done Rogers for earning that contract.”
Morgan Rogers recently made his England debut against Greece. He came on in the 66th minute to replace Anthony Gordon in England’s 3-0 thrashing of Greece. During a pre-match press conference, Rogers credited Unai Emery for his meteoric rise. He said, “I think any player would say that trust from a manager is the most important thing. And he gave me that from minute one, he threw me in the deep end when people were injured last season and gave me a chance to shine and develop and to be in the first team now.” Rogers further stated, “And he’s always demanding with me to get to that level and to maintain the level. And it’s just about when you have that person behind you, you’re on the pitch and you know that he’s there for you. He’s always going to push you. He’s always demanding more from you. He gives you that extra motivation, that extra something from within, just to push yourself and just to impress.”
