Manchester City Agree Deal to Sign Omar Marmoush From Eintracht Frankfurt

Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt for Omar Marmoush. The Cityzens are in the midst of a mid-season rebuild of their talented, but aging squad. And after the signings of Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov, City are now going to strengthen their attacking department with Marmoush’s arrival.

This transfer saga has dragged on longer than Manchester City would have preferred, but it’s no surprise given the red-hot form of the Egyptian forward. Eintracht Frankfurt were standing firm, holding out for over €80 million for their prized asset. However, City’s outgoing sporting director, Txiki Begiristain, stepped in for fresh negotiations on Monday, and it seems his efforts have paid off. Reports indicate that Manchester City and Frankfurt have finally struck a deal. The agreement will see the German club pocket an initial €70 million, with performance-related add-ons potentially boosting the fee by another €10 million.

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Omar Marmoush’s move to Manchester City is all but done. Sharing the news on X (formerly Twitter), Romano wrote: “Omar Marmoush to Manchester City, here we go! Deal in place with Eintracht Frankfurt after final round of talks. Five-year deal agreed with Egyptian forward who wanted to join Man City.” With the transfer nearing its conclusion, City fans have every reason to be excited. Marmoush has been nothing short of electric this season, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most in-form players. In fact, when it comes to goal contributions in their respective leagues, only Mohamed Salah outshines Marmoush’s impressive 24 contributions in the Bundesliga.

But that’s not all—Marmoush is currently the Bundesliga’s second-leading scorer, trailing only Harry Kane. Being mentioned alongside the likes of Salah and Kane is no small feat, and it underscores just how elite a talent Marmoush has become. The Cityzens are adding a player who isn’t just a goal threat but a difference-maker. Moreover, Omar Marmoush brings versatility to the table, capable of playing anywhere across the front three and even stepping into midfield when needed. It’s no wonder he’s seen as the ideal successor to Julian Alvarez at Manchester City.

After just 18 months at Eintracht Frankfurt, Marmoush is preparing to move on. This season alone, he’s been on fire, netting 15 goals in just 17 Bundesliga matches and racking up 20 goals across all competitions. Add that to his tally of 17 goals in 41 appearances last season, and it’s clear why City were so eager to secure his services. But Marmoush’s arrival is just one piece of the puzzle. Manchester City look set for a busy January transfer window. Brazilian center-back Vitor Reis and promising defender Abdukodir Khusanov have already traveled to Manchester to finalize their moves from Palmeiras and Lens, respectively. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola’s side haven’t stopped there. City have also expressed interest in Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso, hinting at further reinforcements as they aim to turn their season around.
