Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag has decided to omit Jadon Sancho from his 20-man squad for the game against Brighton & Hove Albion. This is the second successive game in which the 24-year-old winger hasn’t made Manchester United’s 20-man Premier League squad.
Erik Ten Hag and Jadon Sancho had a bitter fallout at the start of last season. As a result, the Dutch head coach had banished Sancho from the squad until he apologized for his action. However, the apology never came from Sancho’s side, and he was swiftly loaned out to Borussia Dortmund. The 24-year-old winger quickly found form in Dortmund and became an instrument part of BVB’s run to the Champions League final.
After impressing on loan, Sancho and Ten Hag sorted things out between them. As a result, Ten Hag reinstated Sancho into United’s squad. In fact, the Dutch head coach gave Sancho several opportunities during Manchester United’s preseason. However, the winger has already missed two Premier League games despite being fit. During a pre-match interview with TNT Sports, Ten Hag said, “He is here but we had some issues. I had a choice to make. He has to compete for his position. We need in the squad every position double because it's going to be a long season."
Erik Ten Hag named an unchanged lineup, with Amad Diallo, Marcus Rashford and Mason Mount playing behind Bruno Fernandes, who’s currently playing as a “False 9.” Ten Hag’s decision to sacrifice Sancho’s spot sends a clear message that the Dutch head coach doesn’t value Sancho’s incredible talent. And with the transfer deadline day fast approaching, Italian giants Juventus have been touted as a possible destination for the Englishman.
After offloading Matias Soule and deciding that Federico Chiesa is surplus to requirements, Juventus are on the hunt for a new winger this transfer window. Fiorentina’s Nico Gonzalez has emerged as their top choice, but they’re also exploring the possibility of bringing in Jadon Sancho on loan. As per reports from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, "Negotiations for Jadon Sancho are expected to continue in the next days as this is main reason why he wasn’t in the squad.” Manchester United has set Jadon Sancho’s price at around 40 million euros, but no club has met their valuation yet. However, if the right offer comes in, both Sancho and United are willing to part ways. With just a week left in the transfer window, fans should keep a close eye on Jadon Sancho’s current situation with the Red Devils.
