England’s all-time leading scorer Harry Kane has been given the green light to participate in the Three Lions’ Nations League ties against Greece and Finland. However, Lee Carsley suffered a triple injury blow, as Ezri Konsa, Kobbie Mainoo and Morgan Gibbs-White have pulled out from the squad.
Harry Kane limped off in the 72nd minute of Bayern Munich’s 3-3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt, moments after receiving treatment after a clash with Tuta. Despite his knock, the English captain traveled to England’s training camp at St George’s Park, where he was examined by Football Association’s doctors. Fortunately, after medical assessments, the doctors have passed Harry Kane fit. He’s in line to make his 101st Three Lions’ appearances against Greece on Thursday. A Bayern statement read, “The examination by the England football team medical staff has shown that Harry Kane does not have a structural injury. The FC Bayern striker, who was substituted in the Bundesliga match at Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday evening, will therefore remain with the England squad for the upcoming internationals.”
Harry Kane is one of three strikers that Lee Carsley has selected – alongside Ollie Watkins and Dominic Solanke – for England’s ties against Greece at Wembley before a trip to Helsinki to face Finland. Although having Harry Kane fit for those ties is a massive boost, the Three Lions will be without the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Ezri Konsa and Morgan Gibbs-White. The trio have withdrawn from the squad after suffering injuries in recent weeks while playing for their clubs. England’s manager Lee Carsley has decided not to field any replacements for the injured trio. An official FA statement read, “The trio all sustained injuries for their respective clubs over the weekend and have been ruled out of the Three Lions’ UEFA Nations League fixtures against Greece and Finland. All other 22 players are at St George’s Park with no further additions planned at this time.”
Kobbie Mainoo, who’s already racked up 10 appearances for England after making his debut earlier this year, won’t be seeing any more action for a while. The young talent was forced off with a knee injury during Manchester United’s clash against Aston Villa. Adding to the misery, Konsa also limped off with a hamstring issue in the second half of that same match, which ended in a frustrating 0-0 draw. As if that wasn't enough, Gibbs-White, fresh off earning his first senior England cap just last month, picked up an injury in Nottingham Forest’s 1-1 battle with Chelsea. England face Greece at Wembley on Thursday before traveling to Helsinki to face Finland in their Nations League ties.
