AC Milan Close to Securing Contract Extensions for Pulisic, Maignan, and Reijnders Amid Growing Interest

AC Milan’s 2024/25 campaign hasn’t gone as planned. The Rossoneri find themselves languishing in 8th place in Serie A, with just 23 points from 15 matches—a far cry from their usual lofty standards. But amidst the struggles, three players have stood tall: Christian Pulisic, Mike Maignan, and Tijjani Reijnders. Without their consistent brilliance, Milan’s season could have spiraled even further.

Aware of their importance, Milan are wasting no time in locking down their stars. The club is reportedly on the brink of securing contract extensions for Pulisic, Maignan, and Reijnders, aiming to fend off growing interest from Europe’s elite. USMNT star Christian Pulisic is currently tied to a contract with the Rossoneri until 2027, with an option for a further year. However, with some clubs already sniffing around, the club’s hierarchy has decided to offer Pulisic a contract extension. And by the looks of it, the American is on board to sign an extension. Reports from Italy suggest that AC Milan are ready to reward Christian Pulisic’s stellar form by making him one of the highest-paid players at San Siro. The Rossoneri are prepared to extend his contract until 2028 or even 2029, with a significant salary bump to €4-5 million per season after taxes. 

AC Milan aren’t stopping with Christian Pulisic when it comes to securing their key players for the future. The Rossoneri hierarchy is also in advanced talks to extend the contracts of Mike Maignan and Tijjani Reijnders. According to Calciomercato, the deals are nearing completion, with just the final details left to iron out. Reijnders, who Milan signed last summer, is set to sign a contract extension that keeps him at Milan until 2029. His new deal will double his current salary from €1.7 million to €3.5 million annually, plus performance-related bonuses. Meanwhile, Maignan is also on the verge of committing his future to the club until 2029, with a salary bump to €5 million per year. 

Reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the exciting developments for AC Milan fans. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Romano wrote: “Mike Maignan, set to sign new deal at AC Milan until June 2029. Agreement in place. Tijjani Reijnders, Christian Pulisic, and Maignan are all set to sign new contracts at the club.” With these three stars pledging their futures to Milan, the Rossoneri can now shift their full focus back to the pitch. Domestically, Paulo Fonseca’s side has struggled, sitting in 8th place in Serie A with just 23 points. However, things look far brighter on the European stage. After a shaky start to their Champions League campaign, Milan has found their rhythm, winning four consecutive matches following back-to-back defeats. They currently sit in 12th place in the UCL standings.
