AC Milan Close In on Signing Wantaway Manchester City Star Kyle Walker

It has been a winter of upheaval at the Etihad Stadium. After adding three new faces to the squad, the attention has now turned to departures, and the first to pack his bags is none other than club captain Kyle Walker. After weeks of negotiations, it seems City and AC Milan are close to finalizing a deal that will see Walker don the famous Rossoneri colors.

Reporter Marco Conterio has revealed on X that Kyle Walker has agreed to personal terms with AC Milan. Adding fuel to the fire, Conterio also claims that Walker has already bid farewell to his Manchester City teammates and staff. Meanwhile, Nicolò Schira reports that Walker is set to sign a deal keeping him at Milan until 2027. Still not convinced? Fabrizio Romano’s latest update will surely seal the deal. He wrote, “AC Milan received the initial green light from Kyle Walker to join, as revealed yesterday. More contacts are scheduled in the next 24/48h to get the deal done on club side and proceed with formal steps.”

Kyle Walker has been nothing short of a phenomenal servant for Manchester City. When he arrived from Tottenham, he was trophyless and carried the weight of being the world’s most expensive defender at the time. Fast forward to today, and he’s set to leave as one of the club’s most decorated players, boasting an incredible haul of 17 major trophies. Walker was a cornerstone of Pep Guardiola’s unstoppable squad, and his legacy at the Etihad is undeniably secure. However, the blistering pace that once made him indispensable has waned this season. With City facing challenges on the pitch, the need for a painful rebuild became clear—and Walker is the first to make way.

With all sides eager to finalize the deal, it’s almost certain Kyle Walker will be a Milan player by the end of the month. However, Milan’s focus on Walker is set to impact their chase for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford. The 27-year-old winger has been eyeing a move away from Old Trafford, and Milan appeared to be his most likely destination. But with Walker’s signing imminent, Milan’s pursuit of Rashford is likely to hit a dead end, as they’re only allowed to bring in one English player this month. It seems the Rossoneri have made their choice—and it’s Walker.
