KKR Beats Sunrisers Hyderabad In a Close Call

Kolkata Knight Riders got their first victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 3rd contest of the Indian Premier League. It was a close call with full action.

As we analyzed the pitch report of Eden Gardens, we found out that the team winning the toss and choosing to bat first would have the higher chances of winning the match.

Though the Sunrisers did win the toss, but they chose to field first. That could be the reason why they got defeated.

Salted it Up!

KKR started the first innings, and Salt was the star of the innings. Opening up, Salt scored (54) runs off (40) balls. Salt hit (3) (4s) and (3) (6s) with a strike rate of (135.0).

Salt gave a good headstart until he lost his wickets against Markande’s bowl. Since then KKR’s batting lineup fell, one by one.

Poor Middle-Order Batting

The middle order’s batting performance was bad. Narine, Venkatesh, Shreyas, and Nitish scored (2), (7), (0), and (9) runs respectively. The team weren’t able to score satisfactory runs if specific batters didn’t take control. Let’s see which are those batters.

Russel Saved the Day!

Andre Russel's all-around performance was the main reason why Kolkata Knight Riders beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by four runs in their IPL match at Eden Gardens on Saturday. Russell hit (3) (4s) and (7) (6s) in his brutal (64 off 25) balls, and Phil Salt's more sensible (54 off 40) balls helped KKR get to (208 for 7).

In the End!

The best bowler for them was left-arm pacer T Natarajan, who took (3) wickets. SRH almost got to (208) runs a few times, especially when Heinrich Klaasen went crazy at the end of the innings, scoring (63) runs.

Harshit Rana saved (12) runs in the last over, but it was too close for comfort for the Hyderabad team to reach the target score of (209) runs.
