James Anderson Bowls 40,000 Deliveries in Test Cricket
James Anderson, the epitome of world-class bowling has bowled over 40,000 deliveries in test cricket.
James Anderson has recently announced his retirement from Test cricket, but the pacer has set higher standards! Anderson became the first fast bowler in Test cricket to bowl over 40,000 deliveries.
James has grabbed the 4th spot in the list of bowlers with most Test cricket deliveries with 40,001 bowls in 188 tests, becoming the first pacer in the list along with other spin bowlers - Muttiah Muralitharan, Anil Kumble and Shane Warne. Muttiah Muralitharan tops the list with 44,039 deliveries in 133 tests.
Anderson is also ranked fourth on the list of most deliveries bowled across forms. So far, he has 49,883 deliveries and might add a few more before the end of his illustrious career, which includes 400 international matches.

A Chance to Break Another Record
Ahead of his final Test of career against West Indies at Lord’s, the right-arm bowler needed 13 wickets to reach 1000 in international cricket. However, he has taken three wickets in the present Test against the West Indies and may add up to four more.
Muralitharan also leads the chart with 1347 wickets from 495 matches, followed by Shane Warne with 1001 wickets from 339 matches. Anderson now ranks third with 987 wickets, followed by Anil Kumble (956 wickets from 403 matches) and Glenn McGrath (949 wickets from 376 matches).

James’ International Test career started in 2003. The pacer has played 188 matches, 350 innings, bowled 6666.5 overs and got 703 wickets. James has achieved the average and strike rate of 26.46 and 2.79 respectively.
His career across all formats is 26 years, 2002-2024. The pacer has played 401 matches, 560 innings, bowled 8334.3 overs and took 990 wickets with an average and strike rate of 27.29 and 3.24 respectively.
