Updates on Team India’s Mumbai Parade

To celebrate one of the biggest moments in the history of Indian cricket, Men in Blue will be joining the open-bus parade in Mumbai soon.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and the rest of the Indian team have visited with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and are now returning to Delhi airport to catch a flight to Mumbai, where they will celebrate their 2024 T20 World Cup triumph in an open-top bus parade.

The streets of Mumbai are crowded, and there is simply no place for fans to stroll around the Wankhede Stadium as they await Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for Team India's T20 World Cup parade. Rohit Sharma's Team India arrived in New Delhi on Thursday, having left Barbados following Hurricane Beryl.

Rohit and his teammates have returned home following India's victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the Caribbean. Ending a lengthy wait for an ICC trophy, Rohit Sharma's Team India defeated South Africa by seven runs in a dramatic final at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday.

The Indian team flew to Delhi on a charter flight from Grantley Adams International Airport yesterday. A category-four hurricane in Barbados left members of the Indian squad stuck for three days. Air India's special charter aircraft, dubbed after the winning side, the Air India Champions 24 World Cup (AIC24WC), departed the Caribbean Island at 4:50 a.m. local time and arrived in the national capital at roughly 6:20 a.m. (IST) today.

After Hurricane Beryl delayed the Indian squad's departure, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) arranged for a charter jet for the Indian squad, support personnel, players' families, board executives, and members of the travelling media group.

BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla said that Indian media trapped in Barbados boarded the same airplane as BCCI president Roger Binny and Secretary Jay Shah.

Meeting the Prime Minister of India

After getting a hero's welcome, Rohit's Team India headed to the ITC Maurya, where Rishabh Pant brought the trophy inside. They then visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his house at 11 a.m.

After conversing with the Prime Minister and having breakfast with him, the delegation briefly returned to the Maurya before continuing to the Delhi airport, where they boarded a flight for Mumbai.

About the Parade

The open-top bus that will transport the Indian team on a victory parade along the iconic Marine Drive from Nariman Point to Wankhede Stadium is parked outside the National Centre for Performing Arts. Following the parade, a team celebration will take place at the Wankhede Stadium and the event is free.
