Top IND Bat Failed, Top AUS Bat Blossomed - India-W vs Australia-W 3rd ODI

Blue team in vain. Yellow rose higher and stole the spotlight...

The Aussies swept the victory away, winning the ODI Series by 3-0. IND couldn’t get the joy of victory even for a single match. Unsatisfactory performance, Indian batters couldn’t live up to the expectation.

As mentioned in the pre-match analysis of India-W vs Australia-W 3rd ODI 2023/24, the Wankhede pitch is a promising pitch for the batters. Well, it did turn out to be a promising one, not for the Indians, but for the Australian batters. The target score went up to (339) runs, thanks to the great performance by Phoebe Litchfield and Alyssa Healy who scored (119) and (82) runs respectively.

Top IND Batting Order Got Demolished

Despite having, (4) batters and (4) batting all-rounders in the squad, the IND team could not finish the giant-like target of (339) runs.

Yastika Bhatia, Smriti Mandhana, and Harmanpreet Kaur got out before (12) overs. Richa Ghosh and Jemimah Rodrigues hold the battleground for a while from the wrath of Australian bowlers. Soon, in the (15.6) over, the attempt to play a big sweep by Richa got her bowled! Later in the (20.3) over, Jemimah Rodrigues’ slog sweep landed in the hands of Alana King.

Did Spinners Get it Right?

Since the Wankhede pitch is fruitful for the spinners as well. As we discussed in our recent match analysis, Georgia and Alana were expected to work their magic, and they did.

Georgia Wareham took (2) wickets, giving away (21) runs, bowled (6) overs, and achieved (3.50) economy rate. The same goes for Alana, the bowler took (2) wickets, gave away (16) runs, bowled (4.4) overs, and achieved a (3.70) economy rate.

From the Indian side, Shreyanka Patil did well, taking away (3) wickets, bowling (10) overs, giving away (57) runs, and getting a (5.70) economy rate.

Overall, the Aussie spinners fetched the glory.

Pacers Performance

From the Aussies, Megan Schutt and Annabel Sutherland gained (2) wickets each. Whereas, Amanjot Kaur from India took (2) wickets but gave away a total of (70) runs in just (10) overs. As predicted, Annabel did demolish the batting order.

Renuka Singh was expected to stop the runs, but it just wasn’t the day for her. Pooja Vastrakar took just one wicket, giving away (68) runs.
