India U-19 Squad and Fixtures Announced for Multi-format Home Series Against Australia U-19

Earlier today, the BCCI unveiled a 15-man squad for India's U-19 cricket team ahead of their multi-format home series against Australia U-19. The selection features some exciting young talents.

However, one name that’s sure to grab headlines is Dravid—and yes, you guessed it, Samit Dravid, the son of the legendary Rahul Dravid, has earned his first call-up to the U-19 squad. Samit has been selected for both the one-day and four-day formats, marking a significant step in his budding cricket career. Samit recently played his first senior men’s T20 tournament – the Maharaja T20 Tournament – where he was a part of the Mysuru Warriors squad. In the tournament, the 18-year-old all-rounder scored 82 runs at a strike rate of 114. His highest score at the tournament came against Gulbarga Mystics, scoring 33 runs.  However, he is yet to bowl in the tournament so far.  

Samit Dravid’s selection to India’s U-19 side won’t come as a surprise to those who followed Karnataka's journey to winning the Cooch Behar Trophy earlier this year. Dravid was instrumental in his state’s success, racking up 362 runs and claiming 16 wickets across eight matches, including a crucial two-wicket haul in the final. Alongside him, Uttar Pradesh’s promising middle-order batsman, Mohamed Amaan, will captain the one-day squad, bringing his leadership skills to the forefront. Meanwhile, for the longer format, Soham Patwardhan from Madhya Pradesh will take the reins as captain.  

India’s U-19 will play three 50-over games against Australia’s U-19 in Puducherry on r 21st, 23rd and 26th September. Whereas Chennai will host two four-day games, starting on 30th September and 7th October.
