India Wins the Series - India vs Afghanistan 2nd T20I - Afghanistan Tour of India 2024

What a match to witness! Great performance by Yashasvi and Shivam. The crowd at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore went crazy as India won the series.

India won the match and series easily. Everything went perfectly for India, the team won the toss and decided to bowl. There were some changes in India’s playing XI. Yashasvi got Shubman Gill’s spot and Virat was back in action at Tilak’s spot.

Match Preview

First Innings

AFG started to pick up the pace, hitting runs with the intention to leave a higher score to chase for India. But the AFG attack didn’t last longer, Gurbaz got caught out in Bishnoi’s first ball, and Shivam Dube took an easy catch. After the fall of Afghanistan’s first wicket, the team started to rise up, and Gulbadin started hitting boundaries.


Soon, Axar’s magical spin worked, and Ibrahim got bowled. Then Azmatullah Omarzai was clean bowled by a slower delivery from the deadly Dube. Gulbadin kept on adding the runs for Afghanistan, completing his half-century in (28) balls. His attack didn’t last longer, got caught out by Axar Patel, Rohit Sharma fetched the ball safely in his hands.


The team got all out in the last bowl of the innings. As the first innings finished, Afghanistan added a decent target of (173) runs to chase for India.


Talking about the Indian bowlers, Arshdeep Singh was on fire. We believe the pacer took his not-so-good performance in the last match quite seriously and took (3) wickets in the India vs Afghanistan 2nd T20I. Axar Patel achieved an economy of (4.20), took (2) wickets, and gave away (17) runs. Ravi Bishnoi, took (2) wickets as well, giving away (39) runs.

Second Innings

IND had (173) runs to chase in (120) balls. This time, Yashasvi Jaiswal (replaced by Shubman Gill) and Rohit Sharma opened for the team. Yashasvi the innings by hitting a smashing four in the first ball, India’s hopes went higher. But the team lost Rohit’s wicket in the first over and got clean bowled at duck by Farooqi.


With this Virat Kohli was on the pitch, and hit a four over the covers in his second ball. Kohli was all charged up for the game as he missed the first T20I. Kohli and Jaiswal’s strong partnership led the team to the safe zone. But things started to tremble when Kohli got caught out by Naveen-ul-Haq. Fans were expecting a lot, but Kohli scored decent (29) runs (16) balls.


Yashasvi was on fire, the opener completed his half-century in (27) balls. Shivam Dube was ruthless, the player started hitting massive sixes in his first few balls. Dube completed his third T20I half-century in the (22nd) ball. Yashasvi got caught out in the (13th) over.

India just needed (19) runs in (46) balls, Dube and Jitesh were on the pitch, but another Indian wicket fell, this time - Jitesh. Deadly Dube was still playing. Guess what! India won the match by (6) wickets, and the series by (2-0).
