Highest Score in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

We got to witness the highest score in a T20I match, when Sri Lanka confronted Kenya on 14th September 2007.

Sri Lankan batters played with a striking run rate of 13.00 at The Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg. Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 260/6 in the first innings.

Sri Lanka batsmen completely thrashed the Kenya’s bowling line-up.

Highest Run Scorer in the Match

Upul Tharanga and Sanath Jayasuriya opened for the team. Things could have gone tough for Sri Lanka, if Jayasuriya wouldn’t have taken the control. Upul was bowled out by Thomas Odoyo in just 2.6 overs.

It was for Jayasuriya that the team was able to get back on track. The Player of the Match, Sanath Jayasuriya scored 88 runs off 44 deliveries. Jayasuriya hit 11 (4s) and 4 (6s) with an impressive strike rate of 200.00.

Sri Lanka’s bowlers took no chance in letting any Kenyan batsmen stay on the pitch for long. The entire was whitewashed in the 19.3 overs and in the end, Sri Lanka won the match by 172 runs.

Brendon McCullum scored the most runs in a single ICC T20 World Cup match against Bangladesh in 2012. Brendon scored 123 runs off 58 balls, hitting 11 (4s) and 7 (6s) with a strike rate of 212.06.
