Brisbane Heat are the Winners of KFC Big Bash League 2024

Brisbane Heat beat Sydney Sixers in their home ground to claim the winning title of the KFC Big Bash League 2024.

Spencer Johnson shined with the ball as the Brisbane Heat defeated the Sydney Sixers in the final and won their second Big Bash League title on Wednesday. Spencer scored a career-best (4-26) against the Sydney Sixers as the Heat won the tournament by (34) runs.

Johnson and fellow pacer Michael Neser halted the Sixers' run chase by dismissing openers Jack Edwards (16) and Daniel Hughes (1) on the opening powerplay. On a sluggish field, wickets fell in the middle overs, with the Heat celebrating the dismissal of home captain Moises Henriques, who was caught for 25 off Paul Walter's bowling (1-24).

Johnson finished his performance with a caught and bowled that dispatched Hayden Kerr for six, and Xavier Bartlett (2-12) clinched the victory with consecutive wickets in the 18th over. Flying high after a scorching playoff-winning tonne for the Heat against the Adelaide Strikers, Brown escaped two difficult dropped catches in the deep to knock three sixes in his fifty before falling to retiring spinner Steve O'Keefe (1-26).

Matt Renshaw (40 off 22 balls) and Max Bryant (29 off 19) put on a half-century for the visitors, before seamer Sean Abbott (4-32) finished the innings with a triple strike in the last over.
