Bangladesh Squad for ICC Men’s T20I World Cup

Bangladesh is ready with their 15-member squad for the upcoming cricket event – ICC Men’s T20I World Cup.

Bangladesh is the most popular and dominant team in international cricket. They haven't had many big wins, but they're hoping to change that at the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup. The team will play with full energy and maximize the winning chances under the captaincy of Najmul Hossain Shanto.

Bangladesh’s striking machine, Shanto has an impressive T20I record. In this career, ranging from 2019 to 2024, he has played 39 T20I matches and scored 796 runs with a strike rate of 109.64.

Let's have a look at the complete Bangladesh squad for T20 World Cup-

Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Taskin Ahmed, Litton Das, Soumya Sarkar, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Shakib Al Hasan, Tawhid Hridoy, Mahmud Ullah Riyad, Jaker Ali Anik, Tanvir Islam, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib.

Travelling reserves: Afif Hossain, Hasan Mahmud.

The roster also includes seasoned all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who has returned to T20I cricket after a nearly a year absence. Shakib was picked for Bangladesh's final two T20Is against Zimbabwe, and he impressed with four wickets in the fourth game.

There were no significant shocks in Bangladesh's 15-man T20 World Cup team, with youthful fast Tanzim Hasan Sakib gaining a spot following two performances against Zimbabwe.

The selectors also included left-arm quick Shoriful Islam, who had been sidelined for the final two matches against Zimbabwe. Afif Hossain Dhrubo and Hasan Mahmud will go to the competition as reserves.

Gazi Ashraf Hossain, chair of the BCB's National Selection Panel, stated that the team waited till the Zimbabwe series to decide on Saifuddin.

“We had kept Saifuddin in the squad that we submitted to the ICC on April 30," Hossain said. "We wanted to observe and analyse his performance in the Zimbabwe series. But when we considered what the team needs at the moment, Tanzim (Hasan Sakib) was ahead of Saifuddin.

"It was a close call between the two. We saw Tanzim against Sri Lanka. His dedication and hunger kept him ahead. He is also a very good fielder. Saifuddin was the only player who was changed from the squad we had submitted to ICC earlier."

Bangladesh is placed in the Group D along with South Africa, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, and Nepal. Bangladesh is playing their first match against Sri Lanka on 8th June.
